Pamela Paul is a former opinion writer for the New York Times. An apparently straight cis woman, she engaged in a months-long process of covert transphobia which seemed to be designed to slowly reveal herself to her readers without it being immediately obvious that she was writing from an anti-trans perspective.
One of the first articles she wrote that had a clear anti-trans underpinning was entitled Lets Say Gay, in which she bemoaned the alleged fact that the term gay has been replaced with queer, a position which no one with any familiarity with the LGBTQ+ community could take. It was merely ignorant of the people she purported to advise on terminology.
