Status: đź”´ Conservative political action committee bankrolling anti-trans ballot initiatives in Washington State
Let’s Go Washington is a political action committee founded in 2022 by hedge fund manager Brian Heywood, who said he created it to oppose “what I believe were some stupid, overly aggressive, radical progressive policies.” The PAC is based in Redmond, Washington.
Let’s Go Washington gathered signatures for two Initiatives to the Legislature for the 2026 cycle. One, the Sex Verification Requirements for Female School Sports Initiative (IL26-638), would ban transgender girls from girls’ school sports and require students in female-designated athletics to submit healthcare-provider verification of their “biological sex.” The legislature declined to adopt it, sending it to the November 3, 2026 ballot.
The PAC’s spokesperson told reporters the measure was needed because “biological men are competing in girls’ sports in Washington State,” a claim critics say is contradicted by the tiny number of transgender students actually participating. The campaign reported about $7.0 million in contributions, including roughly $2.3 million from Heywood himself.
In 2024, Let’s Go Washington sponsored six Initiatives to the Legislature. The legislature approved three without putting them on the ballot, including a parental-notification measure critics said would force schools to out LGBTQ+ students to unsupportive families. The remaining three, including the capital-gains tax repeal, went to voters.
The PAC reported revenues of $2.9 million in 2023, $10.2 million in 2024, and $3.8 million in 2025. Heywood is its largest donor.
