This article is about the pediatrician who oversaw the Cass Review, which is named for her. There is an obvious overlap between these two subjects, but the are not identical. This article will document Hilary Cass's personal transphobia, apart from her review, and also some of the ways she goes beyond even what's in the review.
In 2024, as the Conservative government was ending, Hilary Cass was made a crossbench life peer in the House of Lords, thus cementing a view of her as a poltician first and foremost. It would be interesting to know if there was anything offered to her in advance of the report she published.
While Cass has been very careful not to identify herself as being gender crtical, or transphobic at all, because her position requires her to maintain a pretense of neutrality, there is substantial evidence that she is.
Her personal Twitter account follows multiple accounts by anti-trans organizations, and has since early on in her review.
In fairness, she does follow some pro-trans accounts, but the balance is very much on the anti-trans side, and it's not clear if she's followed the pro-trans accounts for long.
