Sex Matters is a UK anti-trans organisation founded by Maya Forstater following her 2021 tribunal victory. [1] It campaigns against trans rights under the framing of “sex-based rights” and “biological sex.”
FOI documents obtained by trans advocacy groups revealed extensive coordination between Sex Matters and the EHRC:

In July 2026, Amnesty International UK formally listed Sex Matters among 51 gender-critical organizations designated as “anti-rights” in its report A Growing Threat: The Anti-Rights Movement in the UK.[5] The report maps 117 organizations in the UK’s anti-rights ecosystem, finding over 60% have emerged since 2017 and that 37 of them spent over £144 million between 2019 and 2024.
Sex Matters is registered as a company limited by guarantee. Funding sources not fully transparent.
